Oxymelt A-6 is an additive capable of both reducing the melt viscosity of powder coating formulations and eliminating pinholes. It can be formulated into powder coatings as an antibubbling additive useful in polyester-TGIC, hybrid, epoxy, and acrylic systems and is particularly effective in polyester-hydroxyalkylamide (HAA) systems at thicker film builds. Because Oxymelt A-6 contains some functionality reactive with isocyanate groups it should not be used in polyurethane systems.
Due to its unique chemical structure, Oxymelt A-6 has a sharp melting point that allows marked reduction in melt viscosity of resin systems. Depending on the desired melt viscosity modification and degassing effect, Oxymelt A-6 may be used at a concentration of 0.5-1.5% based on the resin used. Each system should be evaluated individually for optimum results.
The product is provided in a free-flowing form that is convenient in handling and easy to disperse.
