Resiflow CP-77

Resiflow CP-77 is a reactive flow control agent that can impart special compatibilizing or anti-cratering properties to powder coating formulations. Resiflow CP-77 can be utilized in two different manners. One way is to fortify the powder cross-compatibility robustness of a formulation by using it as a raw material in conjunction with a classical flow control agent such as Resiflow P-67 or PL-200. Typical dosage of total flow control agent is 0.7 – 1.5%, with a split ratio of one part CP-77 to three or four parts classical flow control agent. Using the combination of two flow control agents is key. Resiflow CP-77 gives the formulation compatibilizing or immunizing features, while the classical flow control agent helps to maintain maximum smoothness.

Resiflow CP-77 can also be used as a reprocessing aid for powders that must be reworked due to surface imperfections that may have been caused by cross-contamination during manufacture. In this case, 0.25 – 0.5% of Resiflow CP-77 is added to the material and passed again through the extruder.

As with any raw material, laboratory evaluation is required for each formulation to determine the best processing method and the optimum concentration of the additive. Since cross-compatibility is such a critical attribute of a powder coating system, it is highly recommended to test this property as well as recoat adhesion. In addition, it should be noted that products that have been modified with Resiflow CP- 77 typically demonstrate improved resistance to cratering but conversely may be more prone to cause compatibility issues in other products.
